Smoothie bowl

Summer is the time for smoothie bowls. Think of a smoothie bowl as a step up from a regular smoothie. They are much thicker and more luxurious. Just like smoothies, a smoothie bowl is a great way of packing in lots of nutrients with multiple fruits and vegetables. This delicious bowl features frozen ingredients which give it a wonderful creamy texture.

Smoothie bowls are renowned for their nutrient dense toppings, think homemade granola, seeds such as freshly ground flaxseeds, chia seeds or sunflower seeds. Nut butters such as almond or peanut butter, raw or roasted nuts (minus the salt), shredded unsweetened coconut or berries.

This bowl has plenty of leafy green goodness, avocado for healthy fats and the richness it brings to the recipe, flax seeds for an added fibre boost and finally nut butter for an added protein hit.

INGREDIENTS

To a blender add:

1/4 avocado
1 frozen banana
2 large handfuls of fresh spinach
1 ½ cups almond milk
½ courgette chopped
1 cup frozen berries
1 tbsp flaxseeds

METHOD

Blitz until combined.  Pour into a bowl and top with as many nutritious toppings as you like!

Enjoy.
